Here’s how to send and receive a wire transfer or ACH

In the Mobile app1

Before you get started

  • You'll need to add the recipient before you can send a wire transfer. Scroll to the "Add a new recipient" instructions or, if they're already added, skip to the “Make a transfer” instructions. For ACH, scroll to Online Banking instructions.
  • To send a wire transfer, you must be enrolled in Secured Transfer. If you aren't enrolled, you'll be prompted to do so — please have your debit card and PIN ready.

Add a new recipient

Log in to the Mobile app and tap Pay & Transfer.

Tap Wire, then Start a wire.

Tap Add new recipient and select the recipient’s country. Follow the on-screen prompts.

  • For domestic, provide recipient and account details.
  • For international, provide recipient details such as: country, currency, bank identifier (for example, SWIFT code) and account identifier (for example, account number, IBAN, CLABE).

Tap Add, then read and acknowledge the Beware of possible scam message — you’ll receive confirmation.

Make a transfer

Log in to the Mobile app and tap Pay & Transfer.

Tap Wire, then Start a wire.

Select Recipient, Account and Amount. An international wire will require a Purpose of payment.

Note: If the recipient bank requires specific details, you'll enter them in the Instructions for recipient bank (optional) field (for example, invoice number, loan number, etc.). We may need additional verification to authorize the payment amount.

Scroll to review the wire details, confirm and tap Send — you’ll receive confirmation.

Receive a transfer

You'll need to give the sender your information, including the:

  • Account holder name on the receiving account
  • Account number receiving the funds
  • Routing number
    • For domestic, log in, select your account, and then tap Account & Routing # at the top of the screen.
    • For international, provide the Bank of America SWIFT/BIC code:
      • If the wire will be received in U.S. dollars, use SWIFT code BOFAUS3N, Bank of America, N.A., 222 Broadway, New York, NY 10038.
      • If the wire will be received in foreign currency, use SWIFT code BOFAUS6S, Bank of America, N.A., 555 California St., San Francisco, CA 94104.
      • If you're not sure of the currency, use SWIFT code BOFAUS3N.

In Online Banking

Before you get started

  • You'll need to add the recipient before you can send a wire transfer. Scroll to the "Add a new recipient" instructions or, if they're already added, skip to the “Make a transfer” instructions.
  • To send a wire transfer, you must be enrolled in Secured Transfer or have a registered USB Security Key. If you aren't enrolled, you'll be prompted to do so — please have your debit card and PIN ready.

Add a new recipient

Log in to Online Banking and click Pay & Transfer.

Click Wire/ACH (U.S. or international).

Select either Domestic or International.

  • For domestic, select the account type and enter the account details.
  • For international, provide details such as: country, currency, bank identifier (for example, SWIFT code) and account identifier (for example, account number, IBAN, CLABE).

Verify your identity, then click Add Account — you’ll receive confirmation.

Make a transfer

Log in to Online Banking and click Pay & Transfer.

Click Wire/ACH (U.S. or international).

From the Make Transfer tab, complete the required fields. Once you’ve completed the From and To fields, the option will appear for you to choose either ACH Transfer or Wire Transfer. After you've entered all of the required information, click Continue Transfer. We may need additional verification to authorize the payment amount.

Confirm all information is correct and click Make Transfer — you'll receive confirmation.
