Here's how to troubleshoot your ID/password

In the Mobile app1

Before resetting your password, try these tips:

  • Consider our password requirements
    Passwords are at least 8 characters with 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 number.
  • Check and update your stored user ID and password
    If your mobile device is prefilling your user ID and password with outdated information, follow these steps:
    • iOS: Go to Settings → Passwords → bankofamerica.com → Delete Password
    • Android: Open the Chrome app → More → Settings → Passwords → Edit/Delete

Forgot ID or password reset

From the login screen, tap Forgot ID/Password.

Enter the last six digits of your card or account number.

Enter your full Social Security number or Tax ID Number and tap Continue.

You'll need to verify your identity with a security code — select how you want to receive the code.

  • Text message — select the mobile number on file.
  • Landlines — select the landline number on file to receive an automated phone call.
  • Email — tap “Having trouble receiving a code by phone?”

From the Create a new password screen:

  • If you're looking for your ID, you'll see it at the top of the screen.
  • To reset your password, follow the instructions to create a new one.

Enabling Biometrics

Biometrics allows you to safely and securely log in using your fingerprint or facial recognition. If your device supports it and you haven’t already enabled it, follow these steps:

Log in to the Mobile app and tap Menu then Settings.

In the Login Settings section, select the on/off toggle next to Face ID/Touch ID/Biometric Login.

Follow the on-screen prompts — you'll receive confirmation and you'll be able to use biometrics the next time you log in.

Changing your user ID or password

Log in to the Mobile app and tap Menu then Security Center.

Scroll down to the Login Settings section.

  • To change your user ID, tap User IDs then Change User ID and follow the on-screen prompts — you’ll receive confirmation.
  • To change your password, tap Password and follow the on-screen prompts — you’ll receive confirmation.

In Online Banking

  • Check and update your stored user ID and password
    If your browser is prefilling your user ID and password with outdated information, follow these steps:
    • Chrome: Go to Settings → Autofill → Passwords → Saved Passwords → Hover over the menu icon for bankofamerica.com and select Remove
    • Safari: Preferences → Autofill → Edit button for Usernames and Passwords→ Delete the entry for bankofamerica.com
    • Edge: Settings → View Advanced Settings → Scroll to Autofill Settings → Manage passwords→ Highlight bankofamerica.com and select the X
    • Firefox: Tools → Options → Security Panel → Passwords → Highlight bankofamerica.com and select Remove

Log in to Online Banking and click Security Center.

Scroll down to the Login settings section and click Change next to your user ID or password.

Follow the on-screen prompts — you’ll receive confirmation.
