Frequently asked questions

Checking

Your account number and the related routing number for both wire transfers and ACH transactions are listed on your account page. Sign-in to Business Advantage 360, then select your desired account and go to the Information and Services tab. On mobile, sign into the app, then select your checking or savings account under the Overview tab and scroll down to Account Details.

The monthly fee can be waived on banking accounts that meet certain banking and savings balance, spend, and/or relationship requirements. Visit Business Schedule of Fees for more information.

You can avoid a hold on your deposit by encouraging individuals and business entities paying you to use electronic payment solutions such as direct deposit, Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments, online transfers, wire transfers, and Zelle®9. These types of payments are typically available the same day they are received or scheduled to occur. Visit Deposit Holds Information.

  • Sign-in to Business Advantage 360
  • Select “Create a link to your personal or small business account”
  • Enter the login credentials and password for the profile you want to link

There are several convenient ways to activate your business debit card:

Business debit cards can be activated by logging in to Online Banking or the Mobile Banking app or by simply using your business debit card with your personal identification number (PIN) at a Bank of America ATM. Employee debit cards must be activated by making a purchase or ATM transaction using your PIN.

To change your PIN: Visit a Bank of American ATM and select More Options then Change PIN or visit a financial center.

To make a new PIN request: Visit a financial center.

You will need your current PIN in order to make a PIN change at the ATM. If you don’t know your PIN, visit a financial center, or call 888.287.4637 and we will mail you a reminder.

You can link up to 15 checking and savings accounts to each business debit card.

Savings

You can save in a separate account to help your business with emergencies and enable you to invest in your businesses while maintaining cash flow.

You may ask us to link your small business savings accounts to your small business checking account. By linking the accounts, the balances can be combined to avoid the monthly fee on your business checking account. Adding a Business Advantage Savings account to your Business Advantage Relationship Banking account can also be a way to avoid the monthly fee on the Business Advantage Savings account.

Get current rates for small business savings offered in your state.

The level of insurance coverage can be calculated using the FDIC's online Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) at www.fdic.gov/edie/. You can visit the FDIC website for more information.

Small business savings accounts can be linked as a Balance Connect® for overdraft protection backup account but are not eligible to be enrolled as a covered account, like a small business checking account.

User levels establish the type of access that can be granted to accounts and services established by the business owner. There are 2 user levels: User and Administrator. All users and administrators are identified with a unique online ID and password.

If a user is granted administrative privileges, he/she will be able to create and edit other user profiles with access rights equal to or less than their own levels of access. Administrators are not eligible to enroll in other online business services or grant levels of access to other users that they do not already possess.

A sub – user is an additional user added to either a User or Administrator user level profile. The User or Administrator can grant a sub-user access to services and/or accounts.

View access allows a user to view balances and account activity, as well as manage General Services settings that are selected. Further access can be granted at the individual account level to view check images and statements.

Transactional access allows a user to view balances and account activity, as well as pay bills or transfer money, according to the selected account-level transactional settings and General Service settings. This includes the ability to send and/or receive money online using an account number, even to or from the user's personal accounts or accounts of third parties, for the benefit of the user. Please note, sub - users are not able to initiate or modify payments via Zelle®.

Certificate of Deposit

The minimum opening balance varies depending on the type of business CD account. View our business CD comparison chart for details.

Yes. When you open a business CD account, you're agreeing to keep your money in the account for a specific period of time. If you want to withdraw your money earlier, you will be subject to the following penalties:

  • For CDs with terms of less than 90 days: all interest earned on the amount withdrawn or 7 days of interest on the amount withdrawn, whichever is greater
  • For CDs with terms of 90 days up to 12 months: 90 days of interest on the amount withdrawn
  • For CDs with terms of 12-60 months: 180 days of interest on the amount withdrawn
  • For CDs with terms of 60 months or longer: 365 days of interest on the amount withdrawn

In addition to these penalties, you will also pay the amount of any cash bonuses you received when you opened or reinvested the account. For complete information about early withdrawals, please refer to page 10 of the Deposit Agreement and Disclosures document.

For the Flexible CD, a penalty of 7 days interest will be imposed for early withdrawals within the first 6 days of the account term (or within the first 6 days following any partial withdrawal during the initial or any renewal term). If your account has not earned enough interest to cover an early withdrawal penalty, we deduct any interest first and take the remainder of the penalty from your principal. See Deposit Agreement and Disclosures and Deposit Rate Sheet for more detail about the penalty calculation.

Digital Features

To receive money with Zelle®, you’ll need to enroll your U.S. mobile number or email address (the sender needs to use the specific email address or U.S. mobile number that you enrolled). Please note that only U.S. mobile numbers are eligible. Voice over IP (VOIP), landlines and Google voice numbers are not eligible for Zelle® enrollment.

For your security, we restrict the number of transactions and the dollar amount you can send to recipients in any 24-hour, 7-day and 30-day period. If you have a personal and small business account, make sure you are logged in using your small business User ID for the small business limits to apply. View Zelle® transaction limits

To send or receive money with a small business, both parties must be enrolled with Zelle® directly through their financial institution's online and mobile experience. Transfers require enrollment in the service with a U.S. checking or savings account and must be made from an eligible Bank of America consumer or business deposit account. Transactions between enrolled users typically occur in minutes. Note that once you initiate your payment, money will be deducted from your available balance and placed on hold until the recipient enrolls. If your recipient does not enroll within 14 days of when the money is sent, the money is released back to your account, and the transaction is cancelled.

You can only cancel pending payments to recipients not yet enrolled with Zelle®. You can see incoming and outgoing Zelle® payments (both pending and completed) on the Zelle® Activity page.
