Bank of America

A little knowledge is a powerful thing

Manage your accounts and help prevent fees.

Bank of America's simple tools and services work to help you stay on top of your accounts, which can help you prevent fees. Explore the options below to see what they can do for you.

Online Banking Services
Help track the status of all your accounts.

Online Banking helps you prevent fees by telling you what’s posted in your accounts. You can also see many of your pending transactions before they post. And, you can do it 24/7, wherever you have internet access1.

With Online Banking, you can:

  • Track when your transactions have posted, so you can see what the bank has processed. That helps you to prevent overdraft fees on your checking account and over-limit fees on your credit card.
  • Setup alerts that send account information automatically to your email or cell phone.
  • Pay bills on time with e-bill reminders and automatic payments, so you can prevent late fees.
  • Transfer funds to make your Bank of America credit card, loan and mortgage payments.
  • Transfer funds to other bank accounts where you need the money the most.

Plus, you get features such as Zero Liability and SiteKeyTM to protect you from fraud and identity theft online. Both are free and part of Total Security Protection® from Bank of America—the industry leader in safe and secure online banking2.

Overdraft Protection with Savings or Credit Card
Know you've planned ahead.

Help prevent bounced checks and save on Overdraft Item and Returned Item fees. Here's how it works:

  • With Overdraft Protection Service, available funds from your Bank of America savings account or credit card are automatically transferred to your checking account to help protect you when you're in an overdraft situation.
  • With Savings Account Overdraft Protection,4 we charge an Overdraft Protection Transfer Fee each time we transfer funds to cover an overdraft. This fee is lower than an Overdraft Item or Returned Item fee.
  • With Credit Card Overdraft Protection, transferred funds are subject to finance charges and possibly additional fees. These fees are usually lower than Overdraft Item or Returned Item fees unless you exceed your credit limit.5

1 Please be aware that certain transactions such as checks and some debit card transactions may not appear in Online Banking until they are posted to your account. If a recent transaction is not listed, be sure to deduct it from your online available balance to help you prevent an overdraft.

2 Javelin Strategy & Research.

3 Washington, Idaho, Military Bank, and some other customer accounts are not eligible for this service. Please check with your mobile service provider for any rates or fees related to receiving messages on your cell phone or mobile device.

4 Customers in Washington and Idaho may not link to a savings account for overdraft protection.

5 When the Credit Card Overdraft Protection is accessed, a preset dollar amount is charged to the credit card account as a Bank Cash Advance. There is a transaction fee assessed, and finance charges accrue from the date of the transaction. If you are too close to your credit limit, this transaction could put you over your credit line, which will result in its own overlimit fee.
